Band Knee Extension Warm Up Drill

I was first introduced to this drill when I started training at Elite Sports Performance in Spotswood Melbourne where strength coaches Martyn Girvan and Todd Carlon guided me through their lower body warm up program that they have all individuals carry out prior to their main lower body training program to help them with their prehab, rehab and/or performance.

The idea is to place the band around a fixed point and then around ones lower limb (just below the knee) so that you are focusing on a good quad contraction when extending the knee.  This would typically be performed for 2 sets 10 reps in conjunction with a range of other lower limb and trunk drills.

For anyone who is serious about their training and wanting to achieve performance based goals, I could not recommend Elite Sports Performance any more highly.  They have a great range of coaches and all the individuals who train their bring their own range of skills and expertise that can be tapped into with your everyday training.

For those of you who are wanting to ramp up their training or start a training program, but have a few injury concerns, be sure to touch base with us at Principle Four Osteopathy for a review so that we can get you started moving towards your movement and training goals.
