Don’t Forget To Look At The Little Details – Bench Press Case Study

In the image below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients demonstrating a bench press with extended wrist position (top photo) and neutral wrist position (bottom phone).  This is a great example of technique and the importance of getting all the major components correct i.e. set up, technique during the exercise and execution of the movement.  Extended wrists might not be a problem for many people performing low load bench press, however when you are operating near maximal, all of these little components are essential and failure to address them may result in a leak in the movement (less efficient) or perhaps an increased risk of injury i.e. wrist pain in this instance.
