Dynamic Hamstring Stretch With Hand Reach – An Osteopaths Perspective
In the video below you will see one of Principle Four Osteopathy clients demonstrating an anterior step or lunge (partial bent knee) with an anterior hand reach to mid shin height (hands either side of the front leg) and then an anterior reach medial to the front leg and then lateral to the front leg. The step forward with anterior hand reach is an exercise that focuses on dynamically stretching the hamstring of the front stepping forward leg. One can vary the degree of stretch/load through the posterior chain by altering the reach distance, changing the step distance and modifying the sets/reps/tempo of movement. Adding dumbbells to this movement will also start to create a gentle load to the exercise.
