The Front Squat With Crossed Arms Rack Position

The front squat or variations of this is one of my favourite lower limb exercises as it teaches one to open up through their hips and helps to keep an upright trunk position.  This is often prescribed at our clinic because clients are coming in with varying musculoskeletal complaints i.e. back issues and a need to strengthen their lower body.  In the image below you will see osteopath Heath Williams demonstrating a crossed arm rack position (he does not have adequate shoulder or wrist mobility to hold the bar in the traditional rack position).  This allows the individual to still gain the benefits of the exercise without compromising ones technique and body position if they are unable to hold the traditional rack position.
