Hand Stretches For The Office Worker and Manual Handling Worker

In the image below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy and Corporate Work Health Australia demonstrating a finger spread.  This exercise involves you moving from a loosely closed fist to an open handed position that involves you spreading your fingers as far as you can comfortably.  For the office worker who is regularly performing typing, mouse and writing tasks, this can be a great exercise to incorporate into your daily routine to release tension.  For the worker whose job involves regularly manual handling of tools and boxes, this exercise allows you to move your fingers and hands through a greater range of motion to help relieve tension in the hand.  Perform this regularly and often for short periods to have maximal benefit.  Note:  There should be no pain or discomfort felt during this exercise.
