Powerband Shoulder Press

The powerbands are a great training accessory that can be utilized with many of the conventional training lifts that we perform on a daily basis and depending on how you set up them up, there function will differ.

In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy use the bands in a way that requires him to work harder as the bar moves away from him.  The result of this is that the force will also lessen on the decent of the bar.  Osteopath Heath Williams has placed 2* 41 inch yellow bands from Ironedge on either side of the bar in exactly the same position to allow for symmetry of resistance.  He is then standing on the bands to secure them. Placing 2 bands on the bar requires him to also stabilise the load and ensure that equal force is produced through both sides of the bar on the pushing phase.

Note:  Please be careful when unracking the bar and select an appropriate band strength as the bands will want to pull the bar to the ground as soon as it is unracked.
