Powerlifting Practical Course With Martyn Girvan Elite Sports Performance

Yesterday Ben McChesney (Osteopath) and I spent a couple of hours completing the introductory powerlifting course with Strength & Conditioning Coach & Owner of Elite Sports Performance, Martyn Girvan.  This was a great opportunity to learn from someone who is an expert in his field.  Martyn has many years of experience as a Strength and Conditioning coach and this comes across in his ability to teach.  His ability to break things down and take us through a step by step process for performing the Bench Press, Squat and Deadlift was excellent.  Prior to this, Ben and I also went through the lower body, core complex and upper body prehab exercises.  Information on these can be found in my other blog posts at www.principlefourosteopathy.com.

Yesterday practical course was not only great for my own experience with weight lifting, but also for that of my clients.  The things we learnt yesterday in regards to progression/regressions, cues of lifts, how to vary the lifts, prehab exercises etc are things that can be used for clients who are wanting to correct any underlying weakness, movement dysfunctions or just general performance.

For any therapist wanting to improve their knowledge base in regards to Powerlifting, I would highly recommend undertaking the Introductory Powerlifting Course with Elite Sports Performance.
