Squats With Bands

Using bands with conventional exercises gives you an opportunity to change things up and create a different training stimulus.  In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy performing a squat with bands.  The bands (2 yellow 41 inch bands from ironedge) are placed around the barbell and heath is standing on them.   In the perfect world you would be able to attach the bands to the power rack (however this cage does not have this feature).  This makes things a little safer.

The band attachments are set up so that when the individual lowers themselves down they have less resistance from the bands.  As they push away from the floor they are required to work against the weight, gravity and the tension in the bands.

If you would like to find out more about using bands with your training, please contact osteopath Heath Williams at Principle Four Osteopathy.
