Supine Bottom Up Kettlebell Scapular Drill

In the video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams performing a supine bottom up kettlebell scapular drill.  Lying supine he holds the kettlebell in his hands upside down (this requires increased stability and control through the wrist and hand.  When in this position he downwardly retracts the scapular to lock the shoulder into a closed pack position and then pushes the kettlebell up towards the ceiling vertically.  He repeats this movement for 10-15 times to work on engaging the scapular whilst the upper limb is working to hold the kettlebell.  This is a great way to engage the upper limb in the horizontal plane whilst creating a stable base.  The real challenge is to avoid dropping the kettlebell on yourself.  If you have not completed this program before, start with resting a shoe of a closed fist until you feel confident with this exercise and then progress to a dumbbell in hand before moving to a kettlebell.
