Vertical Pull Exercise Video Progressions

In the short 60 second video below you will see osteopath Heath Williams of Principle Four Osteopathy demonstrating a series of exercise progressions that will help you develop and build your ability to perform a pull up. In the video you will see us starting from scapular depression/elevation and then progressing through to active and dead hangs to build strength around the shoulder and back before progressing through to band assisted band pull ups that let one feel the entire movement but with reduced effort due to band assistance. We will then see some jumping eccentric pull up lowering exercises (focusing on the eccentric phase of the pull up) before moving to the bodyweight pull up. For those looking to progress this exercise further, one can add external load in addition to playing around with all the acute training variables (tempo, sets, reps).
